Fall Cleaning Checklist by Maid Right Miami
Blinds can get very dusty over time. If you have fabric covered blinds, use a vacuum to clean. If you have plastic or vinyl blinds, you can vacuum them or consider taking them down completely and washing in a solution of dish soap and water.
Curtains can be a source of dust and allergens. They should be regularly cleaned. Be sure to read the labels on your curtains to see if they need to be dry cleaned or can be washed. Take down all curtains and wash. Don’t forget to wipe down the curtain rods before you put the curtains back up.
Walls can build up grime and dust over time, especially in high traffic areas like the kitchen and bathrooms. Dust and wipe down all walls. Spot clean any places that need extra attention. Vacuum and wipe down all baseboards. Be sure to get the corners and places behind the furniture.
Clean Light Fixtures
Dust and wipe all light fixtures. Dust ceiling fan blades. Check and replace any bulbs that are out.
Vacuum and Clean Upholstered Furniture and Cushions
Vacuum all upholstered furniture using the hose on your vacuum. Be sure to remove all cushions to get anything that may have fallen between the cushions. Use a stain remover to combat any stains.
Clean Kitchen Cabinets and Appliances
Clean out all cabinets. Throw away any expired food. Clean out any utensils you no longer use. Wipe out all cabinets and reorganize as you replace everything. Be sure to wipe down the fronts of cabinets. Clean out your refrigerator and wipe down all shelving. Deep clean your oven and microwave.
Vacuum and spot clean your carpets. This is also a great time to have your carpets deep cleaned. Hire a professional to deep clean your carpets or rent a machine to do it yourself.
Evaluate hardwood floors. Depending on their condition, consider having your floors sanded and polished. If floors are still in good shape, mop and wax them.
This is also a great time to clean out your closets. Get rid of any clothes and shoes you no longer wear. Clean out toys your kids no longer play with and items you no longer use. Wipe down all shelves and take everything out of your closets to clean the floors.
As you get ready to have cozy fires, it’s important to make sure that your chimney is clean. Hire a professional to clean and inspect your chimney.
