Two-Day Spring Cleaning Checklist

But it doesn’t have to be. With the right supplies and the right strategy, you can turn spring cleaning into an easy, one-weekend project. With Maid Right’s two-day spring cleaning checklist, you can give your home a sparkling look and spring-fresh feel and wipe away the doldrums of winter.

The following spring cleaning checklist works best spread over a weekend. Cut your cleaning time in half by teaming up with your partner or your kids to tackle multiple rooms at once!

Spring Cleaning: Day One

Bathrooms (2-3 Hours)

  • Collect items for laundering.
  • Apply soap scum remover where needed.
  • Vacuum floors.
  • Dust and/or vacuum all walls, baseboards, and surfaces.
  • High-dust ceiling corners and crown molding.
  • Wipe down light fixtures, towel bars, and other fixtures.
  • Wash walls and baseboards.
  • Wipe away soap scum.
  • Clean all glass, mirrors, and windows.
  • Clean and disinfect toilet bowl.
  • Clean and disinfect toilet exterior.
  • Clean and disinfect sink.
  • Clean grout (if necessary).
  • Mop and disinfect floors.

Kitchen (3-5 Hours)

  • Collect items for laundering.
  • Check all pantry items. Dispose of expired and unwanted food.
  • Clear out freezer and refrigerator. Dispose of expired and unwanted food.
  • Vacuum floors.
  • Dust and/or vacuum all walls, baseboards, and surfaces.
  • High-dust ceiling corners and crown molding.
  • Wipe down light fixtures with microfiber cloth.
  • Wash walls and baseboards.
  • Degrease stovetop, oven exterior, and other appliances. Wipe clean.
  • Clean fridge interior.
  • Clean oven.
  • Clean microwave interior, exterior, and turn plate.
  • Clean other appliances (coffee maker, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, etc.).
  • Clean and disinfect sink and countertops.
  • Clean all glass and windows.
  • Clean grout (if necessary).
  • Mop and disinfect floors.

 

 

Spring Cleaning: Day 2

Living Room (2-3 Hours)

  • Collect items for laundering.
  • Vacuum floors.
  • Dust and/or vacuum all walls, baseboards, and surfaces.
  • High dust ceiling corners, crown molding, and ceiling fans.
  • Wipe down hard furniture and light fixtures.
  • Wash walls and baseboards.
  • Remove furniture cushions and vacuum thoroughly.
  • Vacuum upholstered furniture.
  • Clean all glass and windows.
  • If living rooms have hard floors, dry mop with microfiber.
  • If living rooms have carpeting, schedule a deep cleaning.

Dining Room (1.5-2 Hours)

  • Collect items for laundering.
  • Vacuum floors.
  • Dust and/or vacuum all walls, baseboards, and surfaces.
  • High dust ceiling corners and crown molding.
  • Wipe down hard furniture and light fixtures.
  • Wash walls and baseboards.
  • Vacuum upholstered chairs.
  • Clean all glass and windows.

Foyer (1 Hour)

  • Vacuum floors.
  • Dust and/or vacuum all walls, baseboards, and surfaces.
  • High dust ceiling corners and crown molding.
  • Wipe down hard furniture and light fixtures.
  • Wash walls and baseboards.
  • Clean mirrors, windows, and entry door.
  • Dry mop floors using microfiber.

 

 

 

Bedrooms (2-3 Hours)

  • Collect items (bedding, mattress covers, pillow covers) for laundering.
  • Vacuum floors.
  • Dust and/or vacuum all walls, baseboards, and surfaces.
  • High dust ceiling corners and crown molding.
  • Wipe down hard furniture and light fixtures.
  • Wash walls and baseboards.
  • Clean all glass and windows.
  • Vacuum mattresses, box springs, and bed frames.
  • Rotate mattresses.
  • If bedrooms have hard floors, dry mop with microfiber.
  • If bedrooms have carpeting, schedule a deep cleaning.
