Easy DIY Outdoor Christmas Decorations for Your Home

There’s no time like Christmas to get in the festive spirit, especially when it comes to dressing up your home for the season. If you’re the arts and crafts type, there are all sorts of DIY Christmas decorations you can make, whether you’re decking your halls or making your doorstep more welcoming to holiday visitors.

At Maid Right, we know the impact of a beautiful home. So, we’ve curated a few of our favorite DIY outdoor Christmas decorations that you can make this holiday season.

Terra Cotta Snowman

Even if you live in Tempe, AZ, you can make a snowman this winter. With just three terra cotta planters, paint, and a little bit of work, you can make your very own, pint-sized Frosty, no matter where you live or how much snow your area receives.

Simply grab three planters that can be stacked on top of one another, paint them snow white, glue them together, then decorate your snowman with weather-proof paint and craft supplies. This project requires a glue gun, but is a great DIY outdoor Christmas decoration for kids and adults to do together.

Oversized Christmas Ornaments

Another great DIY outdoor Christmas decoration to make with kids are oversized Christmas ornaments. You can transform a large plastic ball into a Christmas ornament easily. All you need is a bit of help from a plastic cup or deli container, metallic spray paint, and string.

To do this, take the plastic cup/deli container and punch a hole in the top with a nail or knife. Use this hole to attach a loop of string, using tape or tying knots in ends of the string to keep the string in place. Spray paint the container in silver or gold, then glue it to the top of the ball. It’s that simple.

If you want to take this decoration a step further, paint and decorate the ball with your kids to create a custom ornament.

Light-Up Christmas Globes

Light up Christmas globes add a touch of festive spirit to any lawn. You can buy white acrylic light globes at most lighting stores (usually they’re used for street lamps). Simply fill your globe with battery-powered string lights and create a water-tight cover for the open end of the globe. To complete the effect, set the globe in a wreath of evergreen branches. These globes make a great decoration for lining your driveway or sidewalk.
